Biological samples are often composed of various cell types, making it critically important to characterize the genetic components of cell samples. Having the ability to understand subpopulations may uncover correlations in cancer or other diseases.
By refining test results and uncovering specific correlations in heterogeneous cell populations, targeting is enhanced as well as the possibility to develop a useful treatment or drug molecule. In this study, a mixed cell culture was sorted using the S3e™ Cell Sorter in order to obtain an enriched subpopulation. The resulting subpopulation was then measured using the QX 200™ Droplet Digital™ PCR (ddPCR™) System to gather precise information about the sample’s genetic makeup. Integrating the S3e Cell Sorter into the sample preparation upstream of the QX 200 System provided specific as well as informative details from these cells of interest in contrast to the information ordinarily obtained from bulk heterogeneous populations.
