A new MALDI Time-of-flight (TOF) Mass Spectrometer, designed for ultra-fast label-free screening of biochemical assays was presented: The rapifleX MALDI PharmaPulse (MPP) monitors substrates and all products and results in reliable determination of IC50 values, avoiding false positives. Measurement times of about 12 minutes per 1536 MALDI sample plate allow for the first time the use of Mass Spectrometry for primary screens.
The first part of the webinar introduced MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry for ultra-high-throughput screening (uHTS) in Drug Discovery. The presentation provided an overview of the latest technical enhancements of MALDI Mass Spectrometry, which are the key enabler to employ MALDI-uHTS for large primary screens in Drug Discovery. Furthermore the workflow, including the preparation of 1536 MALDI sample plates with high-speed nanolitre liquid handling was discussed.
The second part of the webinar focused on assay development strategies using a new HTS software suite for MALDI Mass Spectrometry. The software empowers assay developer to accelerate label-free assay development. Furthermore the new HTS screening software was presented including data management and automation concepts.

Dr. Jens Fuchser studied chemistry at the University of Göttingen, Germany. In 2000 Jens joined BRUKER Germany to work in the field of mass spectrometry.
