Advanced 2D imaging and analysis help scientists rapidly trace anatomical and molecular aspects of diseases to advance drug discovery…

What:

PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader committed to innovating for a healthier world, announced the launch of the IVIS® Lumina™ S5 and X5 high throughput benchtop 2D optical in vivo imaging systems.  Leveraging hardware and software advances and smart accessory design, these two new systems provide researchers a streamlined workflow to expedite the understanding of disease progression and to help develop treatments for a wide range of cancers, infectious diseases and other disorders.

The IVIS Lumina S5 and X5 systems provide high-sensitivity, high-throughput bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging with spectral un-mixing.  The multimodal IVIS Lumina X5 integrates high-resolution X-ray imaging, allowing scientists to explore multiple facets of a disease by providing both molecular and highly detailed anatomical information in a single image.

Why:

“As a widely recognized market leader in 2D and 3D small animal optical imaging, we continue to introduce innovative solutions that can help researchers gain greater insights into complex biological systems in small animal models,” said Jim Corbett, Executive Vice President and President, Discovery & Analytical Solutions, PerkinElmer. “Our comprehensive range of in vivo imaging technologies can help scientists obtain a better understanding of disease and therapeutic efficacy and accelerate discovery and development of new treatments.”

Key features:

The new IVIS Lumina S5 and X5 feature:

  • Camera with expanded field of view: scientists can capture more subjects simultaneously;
  • High throughput and high resolution X-ray imaging;
  • Accessories that streamline workflow for data acquisition and analysis: researchers can quickly obtain data and answers to anatomical and molecular aspects of diseases

More:

The IVIS Lumina S5 and IVIS Lumina X5 imaging systems are the latest addition to PerkinElmer’s IVIS Lumina 2D benchtop platform. PerkinElmer’s in vivo instrumentation and reagents are used globally by researchers to investigate a wide range of preclinical models including oncology, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders, pulmonary, inflammation and infectious diseases.

Please visit PerkinElmer at Booth #309 at the World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC 2017) on September 13-16 in Philadelphia to explore its IVIS imaging systems further and to obtain a demo.
